Effect of Education Administered to Pregnants in Third Trimester on Level of Readiness for Postpartum Discharge

Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of planned education given to pregnancies during the third trimester of pregnancy on postoperative levels of postpartum discharge.

Materials and Methods: The study is the intervention type with post test control group. Data were collected using the data collection form prepared by the researchers and the Preparedness Scale for Hospital Dispatch - Newborn Mother Form. Statistical analyzes were performed using the SPSS 10.0 package program. For the scale score, mean and standard deviation, for the fertility characteristics of women; number-percentage is used. For the scale markers, multiple regression analysis methods have been used and evaluated. Before the research, approval of the ethics committee from the Ethics Committee of Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine, the permission of the Konya Education and Research Hospital taken with examining the process to the pregnant women in the intervention and control group.

Results: The intervention (M) and control (K) groups have similar characteristics. It was determined that, in the early discharge group, 54.3% of the M group and 45.7% of the control group were ready, meaning that the scale point differences were significant and that the education level was an important determinant of the scale score.

Conclusion: It has been determined that the planned education given to the pregnancies during the third trimester of pregnancy is an effective attempt to increase the readiness for postpartum discharge.
